And the sun came out!

I woke to bright sun so wandered down to Titchwell.

This chap shouldn't be on land!!! One of the volunteers contacted the centre but they didn't seem that interested.

Off the coast I picked out a couple of Velvet Scoter very close in. Lots of Red Throated Divers some very close in, Red Necked Grebe, Red Breasted Merganser, Goldeneye, auks.

Some nice birds about. Ringed Plover, Little Egrets, Linnets, Reed Bunting, Knot, Sanderling, Dunlin, Ringed, Grey and Golden Plover.

So onwards we went to St George's South Acre. It is a nice church but has one extraordinary tomb (not that one OC!!)

So I went on to Castle Rising Castle which is in the care of English Heritage. It's a fine building and the audio tour for a £1 is well worth it. It was once the "home" of
Isabella the disgraced wife of Edward II (It was rumoured that Edward was killed by the insertion of a piece of copper into his rectum (later a red-hot iron rod, as in the supposed murder of Edmund Ironside)). I ought to stress there is no contemporary evidence corroborating this.

Lots of photos of the castle. The light was interesting, can you spot your blogger!

and finally I've never looked around St Lawrence Castle Rising. Its 12th century and contemporary with the castle but was heavily restored by the Victorians.

it's an attractive village by the way.
