Birds nesting in odd places

Its the time of year where we get stories of birds nesting in weird places!

A Blackbird has made its nest in a JCB! Duncan Booth found a nest with two eggs on top of the battery in the digger he was using to move stones for the building of a canal-side cafe in Chorley when he noticed the nest.

Booth thought he had scared of the birds but when he returned the next day, three more eggs had appeared.

According to Booth:
We noticed steam coming out of the bonnet after we had been using it for half a day,

We lifted the bonnet up and lo and behold there's a nest on top of the battery box.

The JCB is now out of use until the eggs have hatched.

Aw - what a lovely tale; restores your faith in human nature!

Last year some type of bird was going under our outdoor grill cover and building a nest in the grill, right on the gas outlets and under the cooking rack.

This year something is trying to nest in the engine compartment of my car, which is really odd as it is driven every day. That is dangerous to the birds and potential eggs, so we're trying to discourage it, but it is very persistent and keeps trying. Very sad.

Great story, and good ol' Mr. Booth for allowing the Blackbird to carry on with his life.
