Just a tad paranoid?

I appreciate that the Israeli secret service has a certain reputation in some quarters but ....

Apparently the Saudi authorities have detained a Griffin Vulture on accusations of being a spy for Israel - well according to reports!

The vulture was caught after it landed in the desert city of Hyaal a few days ago. When locals discovered the GPS transmitter, they suspected the worst and handed it over to the security forces, said Israel's Ma'ariv newspaper.

According to a specialist at Israel's Park and Nature Authority

The device does nothing more than receive and store basic data about the bird's whereabouts, and about his altitude and speed

Which seems logical - similar types of devices are used by the RSPB and the WWT (although I've had my doubts, I reckon they are secretly acting as CCTV cameras!).

I'm hoping it's like the story of Kuwait banning dSLRs and turns out to be a load of rubbish).
