Jays - another clever corvid

There's an interesting article on the BBC website that suggests Eurasian Jays "plan" their future food needs.

The study appears to suggest that birds would stash more of the foods that they knew would be unavailable to them on forthcoming foraging trips.

Interesting indeed.... I know they stash food as several oak trees started growing from the acorns the Jays "buried" in my former garden.. but planning ahead?
