Art and Music......

The forecast in the week had been good and the plan was to head for Hyde Park and on to St James'.

Wake up? Rain! So change of plan.

We stopped at Pret for breaky

This is odd eh!

Near to the Wigmore Hall is the Wallace Collection.  The collection was established in 1897 from the private collection mainly created by Richard Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hertford, who left it and the house to his illegitimate son Sir Richard Wallace, whose widow bequeathed the entire collection to the nation. A condition of the bequest is that no item leaves the collection even on loan. Oh and it's free!!

The large gallery is closed until 2014. The collection contains..... Turners, Gainsborough's, Reynolds, Canaletto, Titian, Velazquez, Rubens, Teniers, Rembrandt and Van Dyck.... pretty impressive. Oh and some very fine porcelain, suits of armour.....

Well worth a revisit!

One we all recognise....

If you remember this photo from Paris you will really I was puzzled to see this!

Sir Richard Wallace gave 50 of these to the city of Paris. This later cast was given to the Wallace collection by the London Borough of Shoreditch.

Cool eh!

The concert was the Swiss Piano Trio. The programme was

Mozart's - Piano Trio in C K548
Schumann - Phantasiestuecke Op 88
Mendelssohn - Pian Trio No 1 in D minor Op 49

Very good! Particularly liked the Mozart.

When we got back to Epping this old bus was outside.
