The Stephansdom, Belvedere and the Karlskirche

And so to the first full day in Vienna. We had breakfast early and headed into town. The first stop being the Stephansdom .......

Anyway at this point we were chucked out..... apparently the church wasn't open at that time for tourists.....

Into the Stadtpark....

You get a reminder of just how many great composers are associated with Vienna

The Waltz king....

Ah Ludwig Von Beethoven.

The Konzerthaus

don't ask.....

The liberation monument..... hard to remember that Vienna was a divided city until 1955 and partly occupied by the allies and the USSR.

And so the Belvedere the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy.....

odd!

Scarce Swallowtail

Young Redstart

The Musikverein where those New Year's Day concerts take place.....

Brahms....

A Henry Moore sculpture.....

The Karlskirche.... it i being restored

and yes we went up to the top.....

The Vienna State Opera House.... again......

We headed back to the Stephansdom for a few more photos.... alas you could only get into a small part without paying and as we had already been in.....

this made me chuckle

a quick rub down with a wet flannel and off we went.....

Well went in Vienna..... you eat Strudel..... obviously with Whipped Cream and Ice Cream

Unfortunately Trish developed the headache from hell before we could do for dinner so I had a sarnie..... she kept telling me to go out but somehow it didn't feel right....
