Day 4 - Padua/Padova

So it is Wednesday and we headed to Padua/Padova, a nice small city that has the vibe of a university town.

We had booked tickets to see the Scrovegni Chapel for 3:30 so our first step was to pick up the tickets. No problem but the chap was most insistent we go in now!!

The chapel doesn't look impressive from the outside....

However when you inside and see Giotto's amazing fresco's......

This was in the chapel grounds....

Caffe Pedrochi

The university

We had a coffee.... :)

Piazza delle Erbe and the Palazzo delle Ragione

There were LOADS of fruit stalls!!

The italians seem to like comics.... you see them everywhere.

The Duomo and Baptistery

some nice frescos in the Baptistery

We got into the Duomo just as it closed :(

This lady was canvassing for votes.

We had pizza in a shop that was just selling mainly takeaway pizza and it was lovely. There were a few tables and we sat and ate, we noticed that all the customers were Italian.....

Basilica San Antonio

And on to the Botanical garden (where we came across a family of Common Redstart).

Prato della Valle the largest square in Italy.

We sat in a garden for a bit before catching the train and found a Spotted Flycatcher.
