Audley and Music!

I was at a concert at Saffron Hall this afternoon. Given it is just up the road from Audley End in there first! Well it was a glorious afternoon!

Mr Quacks in the sublime Elysian Garden!

There was a nice pond nearby but the ducks decided to use a muddy puddle!

Lots of bees about!

Anyway off to the concert!

I was seeing the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra with pianist Simon Trpčeski.

The first half commenced with
Edvard Grieg's Gangar from Lyric Suite Op 54

The orchestra was joined by Simon Trpčeski to perform Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 2. It was a beautifully emotive performance of  one of the great concerto's. This was the last piece of the first half and Trpčeski did an encore. Now did he perform some flashy solo piece? Nope he invited the Orchestra's young principal cellist, Louisa Tuck, to join him in a performance of Rachmaninov's Vocalise and dedicated it to her father who was there. A lovely gesture and a very fine performance! Loved it!

The second half was devoted to an energetic Mahler's 5th Symphony with a stunning rendition Adagietto (famous from the film Death in Venice).

I think the encore was an arrangement for strings of Schubert’s F minor Moment. I may be wrong! it was lovely though! A very fine end to a very good concert.
